21 Feb And I? I am not human? Why should I not be weak ? (BERTOLT BRECHT)
Mr. K. helped someone out on a difficult matter. Subsequently, the latter gave Mr. K. no thanks of any kind.
Mr. K. then astonished his friends by complaining loudly about the ingratitude of the person concerned.
They thought Mr. K.’s behavior ill-mannered and even said: Didn’t you know that one should not do anything for the sake of gratitude, because man is too weak to be grateful?
And I?, asked Mr. K., I am not human? Why should I not be so weak as to insist on gratitude? People always think they are admitting their own stupidity if they admit that something mean was done to them. Why should that be so ?
