You\u2019re itching to be on your own. You don\u2019t want anybody telling you what time you have to be in at night or how to raise your baby. You\u2019re going to leave your mother\u2019s big comfortable house and she won\u2019t stop you, because she knows you too well.<\/p>\n
But listen to what she says:<\/p>\n
When you walk out of my door, don\u2019t let anybody raise you \u2014 you\u2019ve been raised.<\/p>\n
You know right from wrong.<\/p>\n
In every relationship you make, you\u2019ll have to show readiness to adjust and make adaptations.<\/p>\n
Remember, you can always come home.<\/p>\n
You will go home again when the world knocks you down \u2014 or when you fall down in full view of the world. But only for two or three weeks at a time. Your mother will pamper you and feed you your favorite meal of red beans and rice. You\u2019ll make a practice of going home so she can liberate you again \u2014 one of the greatest gifts, along with nurturing your courage, that she will give you.<\/p>\n
Be courageous, but not foolhardy.<\/p>\n
