RECTIUS VIVES<\/p>\n

You will live better, Licinius, by neither
\nalways pressing the deep nor, while you carefully
\ndread storms, by excessively pressing
\nthe treacherous shore.<\/p>\n

Whoever values a golden mean
\nis safely free from the squalor
\nof a worn-out house, is soberly free from
\nan envious palace.<\/p>\n

The vast pine is more often moved
\nby the wind and the high towers fall
\nwith a more serious fall and the lightening
\nstrikes the highest mountains.<\/p>\n

The well-prepared heart hopes for the other fate
\nin dangerous affairs, and fears the other fate in favorable
\naffairs. Jupiter brings back ugly
\nwinters; likewise,<\/p>\n
