Three thousand years ago, there was a human just like you
\nand me who lived near a city surrounded by mountains. The human was
\nstudying to become a medicine man, to learn the knowledge of his ancestors,
\nbut he didn\u2019t completely agree with everything he was learning. In his heart, he
\nfelt there must be something more.
\nOne day, as he slept in a cave, he dreamed that he saw his own body
\nsleeping. He came out of the cave on the night of a new moon. The sky was
\nclear, and he could see millions of stars. Then something happened inside of
\nhim that transformed his life forever. He looked at his hands, he felt his body,
\nand he heard his own voice say, \u201cI am made of light; I am made of stars.\u201d
\nHe looked at the stars again, and he realized that it\u2019s not the stars that create
\nlight, but rather light that creates the stars. \u201cEverything is made of light,\u201d he
\nsaid, \u201cand the space in-between isn\u2019t empty.\u201d And he knew that everything that
\nexists is one living being, and that light is the messenger of life, because it is
\nalive and contains all information.
\nThen he realized that although he was made of stars, he was not those stars.
\n\u201cI am in-between the stars,\u201d he thought. So he called the stars the tonal and the
\nlight between the stars the nagual, and he knew that what created the harmony
\nand space between the two is Life or Intent. Without Life, the tonal and the
\nnagual could not exist. Life is the force of the absolute, the supreme, the Creator
\nwho creates everything.
\nThis is what he discovered: Everything in existence is a manifestation of the
\none living being we call God. Everything is God. And he came to the
\nconclusion that human perception is merely light perceiving light. He also saw
\nthat matter is a mirror \u2014 everything is a mirror that reflects light and creates
\nimages of that light \u2014 and the world of illusion, the Dream, is just like smoke
\nwhich doesn\u2019t allow us to see what we really are. \u201cThe real us is pure love,
\npure light,\u201d he said.
\nThis realization changed his life. Once he knew what he really was, he
\nlooked around at other humans and the rest of nature, and he was amazed at
\nwhat he saw. He saw himself in everything \u2014 in every human, in every animal,
\nin every tree, in the water, in the rain, in the clouds, in the earth. And he saw
\nthat Life mixed the tonal and the nagual in different ways to create billions of
\nmanifestations of Life.
\nIn those few moments he comprehended everything. He was very excited,
\nand his heart was filled with peace. He could hardly wait to tell his people
\nwhat he had discovered. But there were no words to explain it. He tried to tell
\nthe others, but they could not understand. They could see that he had changed,
\nthat something beautiful was radiating from his eyes and his voice. They
\nnoticed that he no longer had judgment about anything or anyone. He was no
\nlonger like anyone else.
\nHe could understand everyone very well, but no one could understand him.
\nThey believed that he was an incarnation of God, and he smiled when he heard
\nthis and he said, \u201cIt is true. I am God. But you are also God. We are the same,
\nyou and I. We are images of light. We are God.\u201d But still the people didn\u2019t
\nunderstand him.
\nHe had discovered that he was a mirror for the rest of the people, a mirror in
\nwhich he could see himself. \u201cEveryone is a mirror,\u201d he said. He saw himself in
\neveryone, but nobody saw him as themselves. And he realized that everyone
\nwas dreaming, but without awareness, without knowing what they really are.
\nThey couldn\u2019t see him as themselves because there was a wall of fog or smoke
\nbetween the mirrors. And that wall of fog was made by the interpretation of
\nimages of light \u2014 the Dream of humans.
\nThen he knew that he would soon forget all that he had learned. He wanted to
\nremember all the visions he had had, so he decided to call himself the Smokey
\nMirror so that he would always know that matter is a mirror and the smoke inbetween
\nis what keeps us from knowing what we are. He said, \u201cI am the
\nSmokey Mirror, because I am looking at myself in all of you, but we don\u2019t
\nrecognize each other because of the smoke in-between us. That smoke is the
\nDream, and the mirror is you, the dreamer.\u201d<\/p>\n
