{"id":18294,"date":"2022-10-27T00:02:05","date_gmt":"2022-10-26T21:02:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.lecturesbureau.gr\/1\/?p=18294&#038;lang=en"},"modified":"2022-10-27T00:54:25","modified_gmt":"2022-10-26T21:54:25","slug":"on-the-march-to-sinopi","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.lecturesbureau.gr\/1\/on-the-march-to-sinopi\/?lang=en","title":{"rendered":"On the March to Sinopi"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On the March to Sinopi<br \/>\nMithridatis, glorious and powerful,<br \/>\nruler of great cities,<br \/>\nmaster of strong armies and fleets,<br \/>\non the march to Sinopi took a route<br \/>\nthrough a remote part of the country<br \/>\nwhere a soothsayer lived.<br \/>\nMithridatis sent one of his officers<br \/>\nto ask the soothsayer how much more property,<br \/>\nhow much more power, he&#8217;d accumulate in the future.<br \/>\nHe dispatched one of his officers,<br \/>\nthen continued his march to Sinopi.<br \/>\nThe soothsayer withdrew into a secret room.<br \/>\nAbout half an hour later he came out, troubled,<br \/>\nand said to the officer:<br \/>\n&#8220;I wasn&#8217;t able to clarify things very well.<br \/>\nToday&#8217;s not a propitious day-<br \/>\nthere were some murky shadows, I didn&#8217;t understand them fully-<br \/>\nbut I think the king should be content with what he has.<br \/>\nAnything more will prove dangerous.<br \/>\nRemember, officer, to tell him that:<br \/>\nfor God&#8217;s sake to be satisfied with what he has.<br \/>\nFortune changes suddenly.<br \/>\nTell King Mithridatis that it&#8217;s extremely rare<br \/>\nto come across anyone like his ancestor&#8217;s companion, that noble companion<br \/>\nwho wrote in the earth with his lance<br \/>\nthose timely words that saved him: &#8216;Escape, Mithridatis&#8217;.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Constantine P.
