God sent for his dearest angel and showed him the pattern of a mother. The angel didn\u2019t like what he saw:
\n\u201cYou have been working too many extra hours, You no longer know what You are doing,\u201d the angel said.
\n\u201cLook at that! Special kisses to cure any disease, six pairs of hands for cooking, washing, ironing, caressing, holding, cleaning \u2014 that won\u2019t work!\u201d
\n\u201cThe problem isn\u2019t the hands,\u201d God answered.
\n\u201cThe problem is the three pairs of eyes I had to put on it: one pair to allow her to see her son through closed doors and protect him from open windows.
\nAnother pair to display severity when firm upbringing becomes necessary. And the third pair to constantly keep demonstrating love and tenderness in spite of all the work she will have!\u201d
\nThe angel examined the mother pattern more carefully: \u201cAnd this, what is it?\u201d
\n\u201cA self-curing device. She won\u2019t have time to get sick; she\u2019ll have to take care of her husband, of her children, of her house.\u201d
\n\u201cI think you\u2019d better rest a little,\u201d said the angel.
\n\u201cAnd get back to the normal pattern, with two arms, a pair of eyes, etc.\u201d
\nGod agreed with the angel. After he rested, he transformed the mother in a normal woman.
\nHe, however, warned the angel: \u201cI had to imbue her with such want that she will feel as if she had six arms, three pairs of eyes, a self-curing system. Otherwise she won\u2019t be able to accomplish her task.\u201d
\nThe angel examined her closely. This time, in his opinion, God had hit it. Suddenly he noticed a flaw: \u201cShe is leaking. I think, God, You have put too much into this pattern again.\u201d
\n\u201cThat isn\u2019t a leak. It is called tears.\u201d
\n\u201cWhat is it good for?\u201d
\n\u201cFor releasing joy, sorrow, disappointment, pain, pride, enthusiasm.\u201d
\n\u201cYou are a genius,\u201d said the angel. \u201cThat\u2019s exactly what was missing for the pattern to be complete.\u201d
\nWith a sombre look, God answered: \u201cIt wasn\u2019t I who placed it there. Those tears appeared after I assembled the pieces.\u201d
\nAll the same, the angel congratulated the Almighty and mothers were created.<\/p>\n
