Our efforts are those of the unfortunate;<\/span><\/span><\/span>
\n<\/span><\/span>our efforts are like those of the Trojans.<\/span><\/span><\/span>
\n<\/span><\/span>Somewhat we succeed; somewhat<\/span><\/span><\/span>
\n<\/span><\/span>we regain confidence; and we start<\/span><\/span><\/span>
\n<\/span><\/span>to have courage and high hopes.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

But something always happens and stops us.<\/span><\/span><\/span>
\n<\/span><\/span>Achilles in the trench before us<\/span><\/span><\/span>
\n<\/span><\/span>emerges and with loud cries terrifies us.–<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Our efforts are like those of the Trojans.<\/span><\/span><\/span>
\n<\/span><\/span>We believe that with resolution and daring<\/span><\/span><\/span>
\n<\/span><\/span>we will alter the blows of destiny,<\/span><\/span><\/span>
\n<\/span><\/span>and we stand outside to do battle.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

But when the great crisis comes,<\/span><\/span><\/span>
\n<\/span><\/span>our daring and our resolution vanish;<\/span><\/span><\/span>
\n<\/span><\/span>our soul is agitated, paralyzed;<\/span><\/span><\/span>
\n<\/span><\/span>and we run around the walls<\/span><\/span><\/span>
\n<\/span><\/span>seeking to save ourselves in flight.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Nevertheless, our fall is certain. Above,<\/span><\/span><\/span>
\n<\/span><\/span>on the walls, the mourning has already begun.<\/span><\/span><\/span>
\n<\/span><\/span>The memories and the sentiments of our days weep.<\/span><\/span><\/span>
\n<\/span><\/span>Bitterly Priam and Hecuba weep for us.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
