Honor is due to those who are keeping watch,<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Sentinels guarding their own Thermopylae;<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Never distracted from what is right to do,<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

And right to be; in all things virtuous,<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

But never so hardened by virtue as not to be<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Compassionate, available to pity;<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Generous if they\u2019re rich, but generous too,<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Doing whatever they can, if they are poor;<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Always true to the truth, no matter what,<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

But never scornful of those who have to lie.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Even more honor is due when, keeping watch,<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

They see that the time will come when Ephialtes<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Will tell the secret to the Medes and they<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Will know the way to get in through the goat-path.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
